Web Site Training Camp
We would like to thank all the enthusiastic and talented web site administrators
who participated in the web site Training Camp held by AtHomeNet last
week! This session, billed as ‘Four Hours of Fun-Filled Web Site
Wizardry’ had a great turnout with over 50 attendees, many of whom
were TOPS Web Site Administrators. On hand to represent TOPS was Jennifer Briere, Web Support Technician.
The evening began with a tour of Quality Tech, the facility that hosts
all of the servers for our client’s web sites. This is a very high
tech server facility with high-end security such as retina scanners, and
more. There is even an entire section of the facility that is almost as
big as a football field and completely blocked off, rumored to host the
servers for a major search engine.
The main event was the training, which included a series of sessions
covering various web site uses and abilities. We started off with the
“Parade of Sites” where Susan Sanders shared with us examples
of successful community web sites, and how they do it. Next, Paul Patton
explained the thought processes behind such features as the Board Only
menu, and the new Task Manager.
Chip Yonkee, web site administrator for Tuxford HOA, talked about being
an uber Admin, and how to utilize the features in web site service to
their fullest advantage. Scott Greene taught how to set up and use the
new reservations feature, then Pete Dutton from AssociationReady walked
through how to use ReadyDocs and ReadyResale to leverage your web site
as a revenue generator. Finally, Jeff Sanders talked about what’s
new, and what’s next for the Community Web Site Service.
All in all, it was an exciting evening spent sharing and learning about
the web site service. It was so successful in fact that we are going to
do it again! Look for an update next month with a proposed October date
for a web site training camp in Arizona.
